Rain Defender®
Rain Defender®, Durable water repellent—water beads up and rolls off.
Rain Defender® durable water repellent garments are just as functional and comfortable while fishing, hunting, working, or standing on the sidelines at a football game in a sudden November rain. Water will bead up and roll off your sweatshirt, jacket, overalls, pants, and more, so a little rain won’t stop you from finishing the job without changing your gear.
As a college who works delivery and pick up when at home I'm often in rain and this hoodie keeps me dry and warm. Will buy another soon

It was not like the one I have with a partial zipper in the front. I have searched everywhere for that style, this was not it.

Should be called the rain delayer not defender
It's a high quality sweatshirt, that is thick and warm. The rain repellent is nothing to write home about. I'm a landscaper in the Pacific north west and if it's raining the "rain defender" gets soaked just like everything else. At least Carhartt doesn't jack up the price too much for the added benefit. Overall this line of hoody's is better than most but not elite. The price is where it should be. It would be nice to see Carhartt add some colors to their lineup instead of the same old muted earth tones. I own a ton of their products, have been buying their stuff for a few decades and they are one of very few brands who still put out quality products.
