How to Measure

Note: For best results measure over your undergarments. Use a cloth measuring tape.

measure men's coat

Chest:

Measure just under arms and across shoulder blades holding the tape firm and level. If your chest falls between sizes, order the next size up.

Natural Waist:

Bend side to side and find the natural bend in your body; this is your natural waist. Note: It may not be the smallest point.

10/10 definitely recommend
I loved the first one I bought so much I purchased a second one. I've practically lived in them since I got them. They are so cozy, soft and definitely warm, maybe even too warm for some activities, especially when layering. I've enjoyed not having to wear a jacket whenever I leave the house because this warm enough to wear on its own for me, even when temps are in the single digits.

Narrow but cozy
A little narrow in the shoulders but otherwise warm and cozy. Still waiting on the bibs. An update would be helpful.

Only one flaw
For the most part the coat is all its cracked up to be. Extremely warm, oversized for layering, long in body and sleeves for coverage and well made. But the "full swing" feature is the only issue. Theres a ton of extra fabric under the armpits, this makes it feel uncomfortable and constantly ride up into your armpit. Carhartt if your listening PLEASE do away with the full swing crap and this coat will be perfect.

Great jacket - sizing is for guys with beer bellies.
Great coat, warm, and the right amount of pockets. HOWEVER..., Carhartt sizing sucks for anyone that in today's fitness and health conscious world has chosen not to get a beer belly. Size L is too small in the shoulders, Size XL fits my shoulders, but is cut for anyone with a substantial beer belly - I don't have one, and most of the guys I work with don't have a beer belly either. I had to take this coat to a shoe-repair place (because a tailor won't sew this heavy material and thinsulate insulation on their machines - it will break them). The shoe repair shop has a machine that can sew this material - and they took in the waist to fit. I'm not a bodybuilder - just a normal guy that is working on staying healthy. I'm 6' tall, wear a 46in suit/jacket and have a 36-38in waist. this coat will fit anyone with a 44-48-50 inch waist with a beer belly to match. If you don't have that huge belly, there's just too much space for wind and cold to come up under the bottom of the jacket - and it fits and looks like a dress... Oh, the two-way zipper takes a few weeks to break in - when new, they get stuck at the bottom, when trying to unzip your jacket - good zipper, just stiff when new.
