The Carhartt Detroit Jacket built a reputation for toughness on the backs of warehouse workers, farmhands, and ranchers across America. This men's jacket is made of cotton duck that's rugged and durable. It has a warm blanket lining down the body with smooth quilted nylon through the sleeves. The droptail hem provides extra coverage but leaves enough room for your tool belt.

Tough as nails and looks great.
This Detroit has become my favorite jacket and go-to defense from the cold, rain, snow, and wind. Work or play, it's the best and looks very cool too. Dirt bounces off, just machine wash in warm water and medium dry in 20 minutes. This one was for my son, mine is several years old and going strong.
Probably going to get the snap-on hood at some point. The Detroit is roomy and has good range of motion without constriction. I'm 6" 2" and 215 lbs., and the XL has plenty of room for layers. I Highly recommend this jacket.

Classic Jacket
TLDR: this jacket is great. I's my first Detroit Jacket so I'm not going to compare it to the "true" style and complain about how it isn't like the original, the medium is roomy and fits just like any other Carhartt Relaxed Fit jacket.
The good:
-I really liked how it comes a bit stiff and breaks in quickly.
-The style is great and I actually don't mind the bit of extra fabric covering the lower back/upper behind. If you want it to be true to the original style, pull out some needle and thread and sew it up under the backside of the jacket.
-Price is great on this as I'm sure it's not as easy or cheap to engineer as the lighter down jackets that Carhartt makes.
Nitpicks:
-It is a bit warmer than I was expecting (kind of like a 1.5 Warmth rating) and I will probably pick up one of the lighter (Rugged Flex) versions of this jacket come Spring.
-I am on the slimmer side (currently) and fluctuate around my waistline a bit - I wish they had included the snap-adjustable drop tail hem around the waistline (similar to the other Detroit jackets of the past or the Style #105748 jacket currently sold by Carhartt).
