Temporary Return Policy – Updated (Returns Now Accepted)

While the health and safety of our associates remains our top priority, Carhartt is continually exploring ways to offer the services our consumers need while still following recommended guidelines. As a result, we’re pleased to announce that we are now able to safely accept returns for in-store or online purchases. Carhartt takes additional steps to ensure Associate Health is a Priority

The health and well-being of our hardworking consumers and associates continues to be Carhartt's top priority. Because we understand that you count on our rugged gear to keep getting the job done, we want to share the steps we are taking in our facilities to ensure everyone’s safety.

First, we are still operating with a reduced workforce to ensure social distancing guidelines are in place. We’re conducting daily health checks, providing associates with gloves and masks, and have significantly increased our cleaning and sanitization measures.  In fact, we have logged more than 5,500 hours of cleaning since mid-March.

Additionally, we have added dividers throughout our distribution facility as an added layer of protection and are now staggering breaks and lunch times to further reduce interaction among associates. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines and implement additional best practices as needed.

Carhartt Takes Steps to Protect the Health of the Business

Our factories in Kentucky and Tennessee have successfully completed the first of 50,000 gowns! These gowns will be delivered to all of those who continue to fight on the frontline. We are so honored to help and will continue to do everything we can to contribute. This kind of fight is in our heritage, having produced for the frontline during two World Wars

Carhartt Takes Steps to Protect the Health of the Business

The health and well-being of associates continues to be the number one priority at Carhartt. However, during these uncertain times, the company must also look at the long-term health of the business and take necessary steps to preserve its future.

As a result, Carhartt has made the difficult decision to enact a furlough from April 13th until May 9th for a number of associates across its supply chain facilities, company stores and corporate offices. These are positions that do not permit a work from home opportunity and impacts approximately 1,300 of the company’s 5,400 associates. Prior to this furlough, all Carhartt associates that were unable to work due to temporary closures at our stores and manufacturing / distribution facilities received their salary in full from March 16th to April 12th.

The company is committed to ensuring associates base pay will not be impacted during this time. If the state unemployment and federal supplement do not equal a furloughed associate’s current pay, Carhartt will provide them with a lump sum payment in the week prior to the start of the furlough. In addition, Carhartt associates will continue to receive healthcare benefits throughout the furlough.

Carhartt leadership has also taken a significant reduction in pay equaling as much as 60%.

It’s important to note that this furlough does not impact our ability to manufacture personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks and gowns, as we previously shared last week.

Carhartt Shifts U.S. Production to Support the Hardworking Men and Women Serving and Protecting Us During Covid-19 Pandemic

Carhartt has been committed to serving and protecting hardworking people since 1889. That is why the company is announcing today that it’s joining in the effort to supply the brave men and women working on the frontline with the gowns and masks they need to protect themselves. Medical gown production will begin on April 6th and we anticipate mask production to start on April 20th. As long as these critical items are in short supply, we will continue to assist in production. Associates from our manufacturing facilities have proudly volunteered to produce these items and we will continue to compensate them for their important contribution to the effort to support the nation’s need for medical personal protective equipment. Temporary Return Policy

To protect the health and safety of our associates, Carhartt has implemented a paid modified workforce schedule at our distribution center in compliance with the latest federal social distancing guidelines. Although that has temporarily impacted our ability to process consumer returns, we want to ensure our consumers still receive a refund in a timely manner.

Rotating Paid Work Schedules at Distribution Facilities

Earlier today we implemented temporary rotating paid work schedules in our manufacturing and distribution facilities to encourage social distancing among our associates. While there will still be a number of associates working to fulfill orders, rest assured we are upholding all social distancing guidelines, as the facility occupies nearly one million square-feet. We are continuously monitoring the situation and will adjust as needed.

Temporary Store Closings

We made the decision to temporarily close our stores beginning March 15th. We understand you depend on us 24/7, however, our focus must remain on the health and well-being of everyone who walks through our doors. As a result, we are encouraging customers to visit Carhartt.com or their favorite local Carhartt retailer for their product needs.

Our Corporate Office

As a precautionary measure and to help encourage social distancing, we have asked our associates at our corporate offices in Dearborn, Mich. to work remotely. We are evaluating these guidelines weekly and will continue to make decisions in the best interest of our teams.
